Our clients are not only in the market for killer actor headshots. They also crave the inspiration that will keep them going in this crazy business. These great flicks will have you inspired and ready to make your own films in no time at all! Here are our SUMMER MUST SEE INDIE MOVIES! One for you each day of the week…

1. “Fruitvale Station” (officially out July 26) heads into its release with the considerable status of having won both the grand jury prize and audience award at the Sundance Film Festival! The Weinstein Company — who acquired the film at the fest — pushed up its date from October to July, a strategy that certainly helped last year’s big Sundance winner “Beasts of the Southern Wild.” The film tells the story of Oscar Grant (Michael B. Jordan), a 22-year-old resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, and his experiences on the last day of his life, before he was fatally shot. Of all the films of the summer it’s perhaps the one most likely to be remembered come Oscar season time.

2. “Frances Ha” co-written by the amazing talent and indie film queen herself, Greta Gerwig! She shares a writing credit with “Frances Ha” director, and partner, the legendary Noah Baumbach. The movie, which focuses on two 20-something female friends, has been embraced by critics and audiences alike.

3. “The Lifeguard” is stirring tale starring Kristen Bell, the darling actress best known for playing the sassy and strong title character in “Veronica Mars.” Its controversial storyline (Bell plays an almost 30-year-old who gets involved with a 16-year-old boy when she returns to her hometown), and stellar cast make us want to check out this film.

4. “Blue Jasmine” (July 26) is the newest by none other than legendary director Woody Allen. His latest feature — his whopping 43rd — offers a cast that exceeds even Allen’s standards for hard-to-argue-against: Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin, Sally Hawkins, Louis CK, Bobby Cannavale and, well, Andrew Dice Clay. The story of the final stages of an acute crisis and the life of a fashionable housewife (Blanchett), it’s set in both New York and San Francisco.

5. “Before Midnight” co-written by Julie Delpy. If you haven’t already seen it, get to it! This is the third in a famed trilogy. “Before Midnight” chronicles one tumultuous day and night in the relationship of a married couple. Julie Delpy, who co-wrote and stars in the film, portrays a complex and dynamic character that is all too hard to come by today.

6. “Girl Most Likely” officially premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2012, and it is receiving a wide release on July 19th. It stars our ultimate girl crush, Kristin Wiig, as a 30-something woman doing some soul-searching, as well as powerhouse Annette Benning as her mother — a talented female duo if there ever was one.

7. “Only God Forgives” is the latest by director Nicolas Winding Refn, starring heartthrob Ryan Gosling. The last time these two teamed-up was “Drive” and this new flick seems to deliver even more! A revenge thriller set in the world of underground Thai boxing, we love Gosling as the brooding anti-hero and Kristin Scott Thomas as his bloodthirsty gangster mother.
