RENEW YOU
Many actors in the industry find themselves unsure of when to renew their headshots. For some it is not frequent enough and for some it is too often. Here are some signs and tips to look out for when to renew your headshots.
❏ For youth headshots any bracket of time larger than a year sees a lot of growth and change. If you have a 12 year old who is still using their age 8 headshots that is a huge jump. Time to renew.
❏ If you are an actress who cut your hair after getting headshots taken three weeks ago, wait. My advice is to take any dramatic changes to your appearance into consideration prior to taking your headshots.
❏ If you get any tattoos, it might be time to take some new headshots, especially if you want to incorporate them into an edgier look. It’s also probably wise to get new headshots if you recently got a Mike Tyson-style tattoo on your face on a Hangover inspired Vegas trip.
❏ If you are a guy looking to take headshots with and without facial hair, grow out your facial hair first and then shave in the studio to do the clean-shaven looks after.
❏ People keep mistaking your headshots for someone else. If people think those photos aren’t you, there could be a number of reasons why, but the important thing is that your photos look like you on your best day.
