We are always encouraging our up & coming talent to focus on what is IN their control and to let go of what isn’t. Easier said than done, true. But when we shift our thinking like this, we utilize our energy in an incredibly efficient, specific, and powerful way to channel success!

What Is Usually IN Our Control:

-How much we warmed up beforehand
-If we researched the audition, director, staff, and team
-The amount of script analysis and character work we did
-Whether we are currently enrolled in class or are feeling rusty
-If our headshots are serving as a powerful auditioning tool
-Our knowledge of films and filmmakers
-How well rested we are
-Whether or not we are eating the best way for our body
-If we are exercising and improving our stamina
-Whether we put in the time to look camera ready or not
-If we made specific choices or not

What Is NOT in Our Control:

-What the director is looking for
-If the reader was a good scene partner or not
-The weather, traffic, and parking
-How far in advance we got the sides
-The writing quality of the audition material
-The other actors in the waiting area – Neither what they look like or how they act

This is just a starter list, keep adding to it and keep checking back in with yourself to see if you are putting your focus where it needs to be. There is power in focusing in, and freedom in letting go!
