EXERCISE
As a Los Angeles resident you probably include your health and fitness regime among one of your top priorities. Once you’ve used up all your free trial passes at LA Fitness, there are still plenty of ways to break a sweat without breaking the bank.
Los Angeles boasts countless outdoor arenas that are perfect for breaking a sweat. Popular hiking trails are prime spots to fit in a free workout while enjoying ‘nature.’ If you are in the mood to put on your trendiest fitness attire and hike with a full face of makeup, head over to Hollywood’s Runyon Canyon. If you are in the mood to actually exercise, head to hiking trails like Will Rodgers or Temescal Canyon in the Santa Monica Mountains.
For those of you that live in the Santa Monica area, try running on the Santa Monica stairs. This free exercise space is frequented by Victoria’s Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio. If there’s any greater motivation to start working out, please let me know.
If your fitness goals include building mass and muscle, have no fear; you can still bulk on a budget. Thankfully there are stores like Play It Again Sports (www.playitagainsports.com) that sell quality used sports equipment where you can find weights and other fitness tools to use within your own apartment.
Another fitness craze in Los Angeles is yoga. If you aren’t convinced that yoga is only for insane cult members, give a free beginner’s class a chance at a Lululemon Yoga store on Robertson Blvd in Beverly Hills or Ventura Blvd in Studio City.
