Craving a Little Theater Fix?
Did the Tony Awards get you nostalgic about your good ole theater days? Ever since moving to LA I’ve been craving the theater fix I used to get when I lived in New York City. Luckily, I get to be part of a fantastic new play called “The Third Date” this month at the LA Fringe Festival! It’s funny, cheap, and only 45 minutes. Nowadays theater doesn’t have to be serious, pricey, or excruciatingly long. It can be a place to laugh with fellow artists, far away from the high pressure world of being on set.
Too often this business can feel like a ferocious competition, with everyone out for themselves. Theater gives us a sense of camaraderie and reminds us that we are part of a beautiful, creative community. Long rehearsals, chaotic tech weeks, and ensemble scenes bond us for life. So why not audition for theater again? Make connections with industry folk and keep your instrument in tune. Film auditions will seem like a breeze after performing an entire play every night.
Come out and support us and the often overlooked theater scene here in Los Angeles. And don’t be surprised when you see many a familiar name or face from TV land on stage or in the audience. Rebecca Mader from LOST is in our show and she’s just one of many talents who play on stage between on-camera gigs.
