One of the most common questions a client has when booking their headshots is: What should I wear? Here are some do’s and don’ts of picking out looks.

DO vary your necklines (v neck, crew neck, button downs, collars, tank top etc.)

DON’T forget to wash your clothes beforehand. Stains you didn’t notice are a huge bummer on the day of a shoot.

DO make sure your clothes are wrinkle free. Nobody in Hollywood likes wrinkles, including on their clothing.

DO vary your colors. Interesting colors look better and textures help too.

DON’T wear graphic tees with large logos, or insane prints and patterns. You want the focus to be on you, not your HOOTERS tee shirt.

DO avoid overly bright tones and rich reds. Think of a McDonald’s uniform and then wear the exact opposite of that.

DO bring extra clothing items, which can be layered such as sweatshirts, jackets, scarves, etc. Bring a small suitcase like you were planning for a short weekend trip, not a move across country.

DON’T worry about shoes. But still remember to wear shoes because no one is a fan of stinky feet.

DON’T overload on the accessories.

DO get ready for your headshots like you would get ready for an audition. You want to look like you on your best day.

DON’T skip meals or starve yourself before the shoot. DO get plenty of rest and eat a good meal so you have energy!
