2014 has been an interesting year in film. Actors left and right are calling for more well-rounded, complex characters.

And other actors have taken it into their own hands by producing, directing, or writing their own films that explore aspects of their own lives they are trying to deal with: the art of film and acting vs the treatment of superstardom. It seems one is rarely seen as both a star and an artist, and some of these actors are trying to show that you can be both.

Buzzfeed’s Alison Willmore wrote an article that explores this new shift in movies to create real people rather than just characters once again.
