This week’s MRP Spotlight is on film critic, actor, and commercial print model Brian Shaer!

We had the pleasure of shooting with Brian in our most recent trip to NYC, and his headshots actually helped him book his first ever commercial print modeling gig! So we’d like to extend a HUGE congrats to Brian on such immediate success!

Brian has been running his own film review blog, The 4th Reel, and has established himself as an independent film critic within his community. Brian has been writing critical essays for quite some time and typically kept them in a binder. Evolving with the 21st century, he has now transitioned to the web and uses the internet as a platform for his critiques! Brian had a lot to say regarding his love for film and writing:

“I have been an avid movie buff for years.  Watching movies, memorizing lines, gaining an encyclopedic knowledge of actors, actresses, directors, screenwriters, etc.  Movies, for me, are a way of life.  Film has the ability, as do other forms of art, to not only entertain, but to educate, move, and provoke.  The difference is, motion pictures are, just that….motion pictures.  As opposed to other art forms that are, perhaps, more stationary, movies allow the viewer to go on a specific journey with the characters: traveling with them to exotic lands, participating in adventures with them, experiencing crises with them.  Movies give you permission to enjoy something other than your life for a few hours!”

When he’s not acting, modeling, watching films, or writing, you can find Brian binge-watching “Keeping Up Appearances” on Netflix. He LOVES British humor and finds Hyacinth Bucket to be uproarious. If he had a super power, he would choose Time Travel. One of those “If I had known then what I know now” kind of things. Sounds about right! Most people would likely agree.
