Earlier this week we asked, are you a modern day actor, or one stuck in days gone by? So much has changed in our business these past 5-10 years and it is our job to stay on top of what’s happening. To help you stay competitive, ask yourself the questions below and see, ARE YOU A MODERN DAY ACTOR?

Do you have an easy to spell email address?
You’d be surprised at how many times we have to have a client repeat their email 5 times before getting it right. Do you think casting would give you the same time? Why make it difficult for people to find you or reach you? The days of having crazy (however cute) emails are long gone. So retire Acting$myLife4eVs@aol.com in exchange for a classy, simple Gmail address. Or at least create a new one for your business correspondence. Try your full name, or add the word actor at the end of it if your name alone is already taken.

Do you have an IMDb profile?
Even if you don’t have any credits on there yet, you should at least have a profile so you are visible. Better yet, make sure you have a picture up too. Again, you want to make getting in to contact with you as easy as possible. Directors often browse IMDb and many industry people use IMDbPro to see who has worked with who in their network. You want to make sure to be a part of this online community.

Do you have an outgoing message that says your full name?
Many times casting or your agency is going down a long list of actors calling with audition appointments. You don’t want to confuse them as to who they called when they are trying to give you valuable audition or booking information. Make it easy for them, and you’ll reap the benefits. And please, please, please make sure your voicemail isn’t full! When opportunity comes-a-knockin’ you want to get the message loud and clear!

Break legs!
