One of the most frequently asked questions I have when I’m speaking on the phone with someone curious about headshots is: do I really need hair and make up? Read more here.

In all fairness, I have no idea if it’s Kim Kardashian or Chewbacca on the other end of the phone line, but no matter who you are I always highly encourage utilizing hair and make up, here is why:

Our Hair and Make up artist has worked with Michael for years, all the pictures you see on the website have hair and makeup. Yes, that is including the men you see on the website. Most men aren’t familiar with skincare routines that women tend to follow and this means make up will help improve the appearance of your skin.

Make up varies for each lighting set up and we need makeup to be able to adapt to more powerful lights. Have you ever noticed how sitcoms look slightly different than other TV shows? Or how TV in general seems brighter than movies? That is because the lighting set ups are different on each type of project. When you are switching from a commercial to a theatrical headshot, the lighting changes. It only helps you out if you have a make up artist available to make sure you look your best for each transition. It will help casting director see you in the light you want to be seen in (pun intended).

A lot of people say “I’ve had a bad experience before with make up.”
I can completely sympathize with this because I know not all make up translates across different skin types. Our make up artist Mary has worked with all different hair and skin types as you can see in the photo galleries.

In short, Make up helps you look your best and will help you achieve the full range of what we have to offer. That is what we both want!

You heard it from me, I look forward to hearing from you!
